I thought I would share with you a Retail report from Colliers that was circulated just before Xmas.

 KEY FINDINGS…

  • Retail spending remains below long-term averages in Australia, but the volatility experienced over the past six months has now moderated;
  • We expect there to continue to be a divergence in the performance of international and domestic retailers across 2013;
  • While there are probably fewer specialty tenants actively considering new locations, we are still seeing new retail formats emerge; and
  • The retail outlook for 2013 will be influenced by the impact of interest rate cuts on household disposable income, the level and intensity of price discounting by retailers and the management of operating costs by both property owners and retailers.
